Stone Town & Historical Sites Exploration

Stone Town is a World Heritage site, most atmospheric, and most vibrant of all remaining traditional Swahili settlements. The vibrant site is made up of narrow streets, twists, and turns fused with African and Arab influences. The modern Stone Town is a lively melting pot that embraces visitors by offering fine dining and curious attractions without compromising its old world charm.

Prison Island aka Changuu Island

Once the site of a gaol for misbehaving slaves; the island lies just off the old stone town. It is fringed with a beautiful coral reef, ideal for snorkeling, and has a lovely white beach for sun-bathing. It is also home to a family of giant tortoises, imported from the Seychelles in the late 19th century. This island is ideal for a day-trip with refreshments available throughout the day. It also has a small restaurant where you can enjoy freshly caught fish.

Spice Farms to Spice up your life

Spices from Zanzibar are globally known and a holiday to Zanzibar will be incomplete without the traditional spice farm visits. The farms were first introduced on the island in 1873 by the Sultan of Oman. You will be overwhelmed by the abundance of botanical species growing in these gardens – exotic spices, fruits and vegetables.

Ufufuma Forest with Sacred Caves

This mystical forest dates back to 13th century and harbors some of the rarest wildlife in Africa. The sacred caves found in the forests serve as witchcraft location for traditional healings. Depending on the day, visitors may get to observe witchcraft performance where a witch doctor speaks to spirits, local musicians play mystical tunes on traditional instruments while group members sing and dance to the sacred healing tunes calling for spirits that have entered a body of an afflicted person.  It is a site to behold.

Jozani Forest

The Jozani Natural Forest Reserve is located in the central east region of Zanzibar Island and is home to the rare Red Colobus Monkey which is endemic to Zanzibar. These monkeys are full of character, and roam freely. They can also be seen at very close quarters just outside the reserve's perimeter and are incredibly photogenic. Jozani is home to other species including Sykes monkey, small buck and bush babies, hyraxes, over 50 species of butterfly and 40 species of birds. The forest has an excellent nature trail and the guides from local residents are well trained and informative.

Dolphin Swim with Ocean Wild Dolphins

Zanzibar offers a unique opportunity to track and swim with one of the oceans most captivating creatures. This is truly a magical experience that will stay with you forever. Each morning the local pod of dolphins wake from their overnight spot in Menai Bay and prepare for the day ahead. Greeting and playing with visitors is just part of their morning routine

Sailing Dhow Cruises

The sunsets in Zanzibar can be stunning and the best way to get an uninterrupted view is from the deck of a sailing dhow.  These comfortable traditional style boats will cruise around past the lighthouse and the fishing fleet, allowing for some great photo opportunities.  You may choose to go to the reefs at Kendwa to enjoy a bit of snorkelling before the sun goes down. You then head back under the power of sail and enjoy the feeling of the wind at your back, just as the old Arab traders must have done.

Safari Blue & Snorkelling

The Safari Blue excursion offers full day sailing around mangroves and snorkel along some of the world’s best coral reefs Zanzibar has to offer. The seafood barbeque and exotic fruit tasting sessions are simply heavenly. The activity covers suitable beginners and more experienced snorkelers alike and should be on everyone’s ‘must do’ list especially snorkelling in Matemwe around the world famous Mnemba Atoll to gain the most amazing underwater viewing experience

Culinary Art – Zanzibari Food

Learning to cook a traditional meal in Zanzibar offers a true culinary adventure—no surprise for a place nicknamed the ‘Spice Islands’. Although its history lies in a fusion of distinct culinary tradition (Indian, Arabian and African), Swahili cooking has a distinct identity on its own right. What better way to learn about a culture than to directly indulge yourself in food preparation with the local chefs.

Diving Zanzibar

Zanzibar is reputed to have some of the best diving in the world, and the coral reef structures that surrounding the Islands ensure abundant marine life. In deeper waters, lush coral gardens often stretch as far as the eyes can see, and large game fish (barracuda, kingfish, tuna and Wahoo) hunt together with large Napoleonic wrasse, graceful manta rays and sharks. Shallower waters are the playground of tropical fish, including a huge variety of Indo-Pacific marine fauna. Good visibility (20 - 60meters) and a year-round average water temperature of 27°C ensure that you enjoy your Zanzibar diving experience.

Swimming; Sandy walks; Sun baths and Beach Relaxation

Zanzibar's brilliant white beaches lapped by the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean provide the perfect place to relax. Simply grab your favourite book, soak up the sun and take refuge on the fantastic beach, get mesmerised by the ocean and forget about your busy daily schedules. The beaches in Zanzibar are a paradise, interspersed with picturesque fishing villages, where the people live a simple way of life, unchanged over the years. There are more than 25 fantastic beaches in Zanzibar, and some are so peaceful and remote that the only noise breaking the silence is likely to be the ocean. Sometimes there is nothing better than simply doing nothing.
