The Proposed Itinerary


Day 1: Arrival at Dar es Salaam

Arrive at Dar es Salaam International Airport, meet and transfer to hotel in

the city on bed and breakfast basis for ONE night

Day 2: Dar – Mikumi National Park 

Depart from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park. We will arrive and check

in for TWO nights on full board basis. After lunch, we will proceed on an

afternoon game drive.

Accommodation: Tented Camp


Day 3: In Mikumi National Park 

Mikumi National Park is closest to Dar es Salaam and is known for excellent

game viewing, excellent photography lighting with large herds of elephants

and buffalo. Our day begins with a Sunrise game drive in the Park, the best

time to take photos. With our packed breakfast, we will drive until noon,

returning for a hot meal and rest at the camp. Our game viewing will resume

late afternoon for a good sunset photography. Dinner and overnight at the

Day 4: Mikumi to Ruaha National Park

This morning you will take a six hour picturesque drive from Mikumi through

Mountain ranges and valleys, awakened by meandering River by the roadside

to Iringa. From here we will hit a surface, off the beaten track road to Ruaha

passing through Miombo woodlands and small villages. On arrival we will

check in on Full Board basis and take the rest of the day at leisure enjoying

the animals from the comfort of our balconies, coming to the river for a drink.

Day 5: Ruaha National Park

Ruaha is in the remoteness and a very quiet park. It is well known for large

herds of elephant and buffalo, frequent big cat sighting plus wild dog.

Excellent birdlife, great game drives and walks through baobab forests and

sand rivers. Our highly trained English speaking guides will lead you to an

abundance of wildlife on your game drives around Ruaha’s extensive and

well-maintained road network where you will rarely meet any other vehicles.

You have a choice to make between Morning and afternoon or a full day of

game viewing, carrying your picnic lunches which will be enjoyed in the bush.

Day 6: Ruaha National Park

Terrain and wildlife in Ruaha is varied and dramatic. Open plains are filled

with baobab and iconic purple-tinged hills provide the backdrop to this

beautiful scenery. Riverine bush and dry river beds can prove the hideout for

kudu and elephant while huge herds of buffalo and scores of giraffe are

never far away. Big cats are also a-plenty – Ruaha is never short on

excitement; and when the big game gets too much, the prolific birdlife here

will delight even the most disinterested of twitchers.

Day 7: Ruaha National Park

Our last day in Ruaha will be spent on a choice between morning or

afternoon game drive, taking-in on all the experiences we have encountered

and qualify a statement by one safari connoisseur that… “If you can only see

one park in all of Africa, it should be Ruaha National Park in Tanzania; the

Day 9: Ruaha – Udzungwa National Park

Depart from Ruaha to Udzungwa Mountains through the picturesque drive.

We will branch off for Isimila, an archaeological site tour with remains of

Stone Age tools used before evolution time. Isimila central valley consisting of

a deep canyon characterized by imposing pinnacles and erosion towers

creating an environment of extraordinary charm.  We will then proceed with

our journey to Udzungwa and check in for on Full Board basis.

Day 10: Udzungwa National Park

Udzungwa Mountains are known for great Mountain ranges, andsix waterfalls

which could only accessed on foot. Second Highest BIRD diversity in Africa;

endemic flora and fauna A Ramsar site; Udzungwa has the Second Highest

BIRD Diversity in Africa attracting Ornithologist from around the globe. It is

among the “34 World Biodiversity Hotspot” and “200 WWF Eco-region

of global critical importance”.  The Park consists of Forest Mountains with

exceptionally high biodiversity harboring over 25% endemic species of plants,

mammals, birds and insects, with some found nowhere else in the world. Our

day will be spent at leisure, enjoying the plants, birds and primates around

the lodge, cycling in the village sugarcane plantations or just enjoying a swim

at the lodge.

Day 11: Udzungwa National Park

The greatest altitudinal mountain ranges, amid six spectacular waterfalls that

are only accessible by foot, offer excellent climbing, hiking, birding and

camping from a short one hour trails to six-day long trails. Natural caves in

the park have survived human destructions due to traditional beliefs and

taboos. Today we will trek the mountains, walking under the canopy

rainforest, attempting to spot endemic primates and birds, up to Sanje

waterfalls for a spectacular view of the rift valley below. We will enjoy our

picnic lunch and very refreshing swim in the natural waterfall pools.

Day 12: Udzungwa – Dar es Salaam

With reluctantly but our safari comes to an end. It is time to bid our farewells

and leave the bush. We will drive back to Dar es Salaam. From here, you may

proceed on ferry boat to Zanzibar or other travels or transferred to Dar es

Salaam International Airport for your outbound flights
