The Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrive in Dar es Salaam

Meet at the airport and transfer to a Hotel (BB) in the City Centre, Dar es

Salaam. Acclimatize and Safari briefing.

DAY 2: Fly Dar to Ruaha

Early morning transfer to Dar es Salaam Airport for your two-and-a-half hour

Safari flight to Ruaha National Park. You will be met at Ruaha Airstrip and

transfer to the camp for check in and lunch followed by afternoon game drive

in camp’s open jeep. Ruaha, East Africa’s largest Park has the most dramatic

landscapes and abundance of wildlife. The dry (brown) season offers

spectacular game viewing with stalking commotions occurring alongside dry

river beds. The wet (green) seasons transforms the park into an amazing

paradise charmed with prolific resident and migrant birdlife with variety of

colourful flora and fauna.

Day 3: Ruaha Nation Park

Today you will enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in Ruaha National

Park which is dubbed the “Undiscovered gem of Tanzania’s best kept secret”.

Situated far off the beaten track, away from crazy camera clicking crowds this

rough tract of wilderness pulsates the real energy of an Africa long-forgotten.

Day 4: Ruaha Nation Park

Your last day in Ruaha today will be spent enjoying morning and afternoon

game drives. This Park is an ecological convergence for Northern and

Southern species of mammal and is also one of the few areas where Greater

and Lesser Kudu can be seen; Home to Tanzania’s largest elephant

population; a large collection of herbivore and carnivore such as lion, leopard,

cheetah, spotted and tripped hyena, wild dog and many more. Game drives

are unique at any season; the Park caters for the safari connoisseur and

birders alike.

DAY 5: Monday – Fly Ruaha – Katavi National Park

Important to Note: Shared Chartered Flights to and from Katavi and Mahale

operate on Mondays and Thursdays only

A very early morning transfer to Airstrip for your 07:00am shared chartered

flight to Katavi.  Though the best is the dry season, Katavi is pretty good in the

green season too especially for birders. You will take an early evening game

viewing as you explore this authentic and remote western wilderness and

witness the dramas unfold before you.

DAY 6 – Tuesday:  in Katavi National Park

Today we will explore the park whose main geographical features are the

wetland grass plains to the north and the palm-fringed Lake Chada to the

south-east. During the rainy season, these lush, marshy lakes are a haven for

myriad water birds, as they support Tanzania’s densest concentrations of

hippo and crocodile. Katavi is the third largest park in Tanzania – Isolated,

untrammelled and seldom visited; it is a true wilderness, providing the few

visitors who make it there with a thrilling taste of Africa as it must have been

a century ago.

DAY 7: Wednesday – In Katavi National Park

Depart for morning Walking Safari (if booked within package) alternatively

morning and afternoon game drives. During the dry season when the

floodwater retreats, the Katuma River remains the only source of drinking for

the animals, and offer spectacular game concentrations that defy belief. We

expect to see a horde of elephants, several herds of buffalo and abundance

of giraffe, zebra, impala and reedbuck that congregate on the area; providing

an easy pick for the numerous lion prides and spotted hyena clans whose

territories converge on the floodplains.

DAYS 8 – Thursday:  Fly: Katavi to Dar es Salaam

This morning you will be transferred to Iku Airstrip in Katavi for your shared

charter flight back to Dar es Salaam expected to arrive around 16:35; in time

for your evening outbound connections or check in at a hotel in the City.
